Which accessories fit a 13 inch kamado?

A 13 inch kamado (Small) mainly takes accessories that are not tied to the grate diameter: an ash tool and ash shovel, BBQ gloves, a thermometer, an electric fire starter and ceramic feet. The grate of a Small is 27.5 cm, so for grates and stones always choose the 13 inch version.
  • Lighting: electric fire starter, no firelighters needed
  • Cleaning: ash tool and ash shovel
  • Working safely: heat-resistant BBQ gloves
  • Core temperature: digital wireless thermometer
Small kamado

Small size, fully equipped.

These 13 inch kamado accessories are chosen for the Small: the kamado for the balcony, the campsite or a small garden. Everything here fits a 27.5 cm grate or works regardless of size.

Which Small do you have?

The 13 inch comes as the Grill Bill Classic Jr. and as the Pro III. Both have the same grate, so these accessories fit both. Read more about this size on the Small kamado page.

Firing a small kamado

A Small burns less charcoal, so quality matters even more. Choose lump charcoal that burns long and leaves little ash, and light it with a fire starter instead of spirit.

Frequently asked questions about accessories for the 13 inch kamado

Do accessories from a bigger kamado fit a 13 inch?
No. Grates, deflectors and pizza stones of 16, 21 or 23.5 inch are too big for a Small. Tools such as an ash tool, gloves and a thermometer work on every size.
What is the fastest way to light a small kamado?
With an electric fire starter: hold it in the charcoal for a few minutes until it glows, then take it out. Leave the vents open until your kamado is almost up to temperature, then close them down.
Can I smoke on a 13 inch kamado?
Yes. A Small also cooks indirectly when you place a heat deflector between fire and meat and add a few chunks of smoking wood to the coals. Because the grate is small, choose smaller cuts of meat.
