The fire ring 23 inch is the ceramic ring section that sits on top of the firebox of your Grill Bill. It keeps the fire zone at height, lets air flow around your coals, and determines the level at which your grate and heat deflector rest. This is an original Grill Bill part that comes fitted as standard on the Pro and Classic in this size, so as a replacement it lines up exactly with the firebox you already have.
Why you'd replace the fire ring 23 inch
Ceramic can develop a crack after years of firing up or from a knock. A damaged ring lets air escape in the wrong place and disrupts the draw around your coals, making it harder to hold a stable temperature. The grate and heat deflector can also sit askew once the ring is no longer round. With an original part you restore the fit your appliance had from the factory.
- Raises the fire zone, so air can flow around the coals
- Supports your grate and heat deflector at the right level
- Ceramic: withstands the heat of long low-and-slow sessions
- Fits seamlessly onto the existing firebox of the 23 inch
- Fits both the Pro and Classic versions
Fitting the ring
Let the kamado cool down completely and remove the grate, heat deflector and charcoal basket. Lift the old ring straight up, wipe the rim of the firebox clean and set the new ring back down flat. No twisting or wiggling needed: it sits correctly when it's evenly spaced from the inner wall all the way round.
Maintenance
Brush off the top edge from time to time, so fat and ash don't bake in. Always lift the ring with two hands and never drop it back into place, as that's the most common cause of a hairline crack.
If you're replacing parts anyway, also take a look at your charcoal basket and ash drawer. All other parts and accessories can be found under kamado accessories.
