How long does Quebracho blanco charcoal burn?

At around 180 degrees, one fill lasts about five to six hours. The Argentinian hardwood is extremely dense, which keeps the temperature stable and means you barely need to top up. For searing over high heat, it reaches searing temperatures just as easily.

  • 10kg bag, 100% natural hardwood
  • Count on 1 to 1.5 kilos for a short grilling session
  • Stored dry, keeps indefinitely

Quebracho blanco charcoal comes from one of the hardest wood types in the world: the name literally means axe breaker. You can see that extreme density reflected in the fire, because the coals hold a stable temperature for hours and produce remarkably little ash. The smoke is earthy and subtle, just as you know it from classic asado. You get a 10kg bag.

What makes Quebracho blanco charcoal special

This charcoal does two things well that rarely go together. It effortlessly reaches searing temperatures for a picanha or tomahawk, and it stays just as calm and predictable during a long session at low temperature. At around 180 degrees, one fill lasts roughly five to six hours.

  • Extremely dense hardwood with a long burn time
  • Stable temperature, little adjusting needed
  • Barely sparks and produces little ash
  • Earthy smoke that adds character without overpowering
  • 10kg bag, pure wood with no additives

How to fire it up

Fill the fire basket generously, light one corner with firelighters and let the fire spread. The charcoal gradually takes over the heat and then gives a long, steady glow. For a short grilling session, count on around 1 to 1.5 kilos.

Storing

Store dry and well sealed. That keeps the charcoal usable indefinitely and lets it light without unnecessary smoke.

Bill's tipLooking for a softer, sweeter smoke for fish or poultry? Mix part of your fill with Marabu charcoal. You keep the burn time and soften the smoke profile.

Yes, it's pure natural hardwood with no additives or binders. Stored dry, the charcoal keeps indefinitely.
