What is Marabu charcoal suitable for?

For long sessions on the kamado and for searing on high heat. The Cuban hardwood is so dense that one load burns for hours at a steady temperature, with little ash and hardly any sparks. The soft, slightly sweet smoke suits meat, fish and vegetables.

  • 10 kg bag, 100% natural hardwood
  • Suitable for every kamado and charcoal barbecue
  • Count on 1 to 1.5 kg for a short grilling session

Marabu charcoal is the best kept secret of Cuban grill masters. The wood is exceptionally dense, so the coals burn slowly and evenly and give off a soft, slightly sweet smoke that adds depth to meat, fish and vegetables without overpowering them. You get a 10 kg bag.

Why choose Marabu charcoal

The high density translates directly into your burning behaviour: less topping up, less adjusting and a glow that lasts for hours. That makes this charcoal just as suited to a relaxed brisket as to searing a thick steak on high heat.

  • Holds the temperature exceptionally steady
  • Barely sparks: safer and cleaner burning
  • Little ash, so a clean firebox and better airflow
  • Soft, slightly sweet smoke that suits almost any dish
  • 10 kg bag, pure wood with no chemical additives

How to light this charcoal

Light a small portion of the coals with natural firelighters and let the fire spread calmly. The charcoal gradually takes on the heat and then holds temperature for hours afterwards. For a short grilling session count on roughly 1 to 1.5 kg of charcoal, and fill the firebox more generously for a long session at a low temperature.

Storage

Store the charcoal dry and well sealed. Damp coals light slowly and produce unnecessary smoke. Kept dry, the bag stays usable for a long time, so you can fire up whenever it suits you.

Bill's tipPut out your kamado afterwards by closing the vents. The unburnt charcoal that remains, you simply use again next time.
