This cast iron scrubber pad from Valhal Outdoor solves the problem everyone with a skillet or Dutch Oven runs into: getting rid of stuck-on residue without wrecking your pan. A steel brush or scouring pad scrapes off the seasoning layer, washing-up liquid eats it away. This pad only tackles the residue and leaves the layer in place.
What a cast iron scrubber pad does better than a sponge
The nubs are stiff enough to work loose caked-on residue, but the material itself is softer than the cast iron underneath. So you're not scrubbing away anything you actually want to keep.
- No scratches on the base of your pan or griddle
- Works with just hot water, so you don't need any soap
- Doesn't absorb grease and odours the way a sponge does
- Rinse it under the tap and it's instantly clean again
- Also usable on grates, griddles and the inside of a Dutch Oven
How to clean cast iron
Do it while the pan is still hand-warm to lukewarm; that's when stuck-on food comes loose most easily. Add hot water, scrub with the pad in circles and pour away the dirty water. Then dry the pan straight away and put it back on the heat briefly so the last moisture evaporates. Finally, rub in a thin layer of oil or wax.
