What do you use acacia charcoal for?

For almost anything on the kamado or charcoal barbecue. This charcoal ignites quickly and then delivers a stable heat that lasts, so you can sear with it as well as cook low and slow for hours. The mild smoke suits meat, fish and vegetables. You buy it in a 10kg bag.

    • 10kg bag of pure hardwood with no chemical additives
    • Ignites fast, burns long, produces little ash
    • Suitable for every kamado and charcoal barbecue

Acacia charcoal from Bestcharcoal is a versatile top-quality charcoal: it heats up quickly and then burns long and evenly. You get a warm, full glow with a mild smoky flavour, which means this charcoal works just as well for a quick seared steak as for a slow session of several hours. The bag contains 10kg of pure charcoal with no chemical additives.

Why acacia charcoal suits your kamado

Acacia is a dense hardwood that ignites reliably and then delivers a stable heat. The charcoal produces little ash and barely sparks, so your fire basket stays clean and the airflow stays open. You'll notice it straight away: your temperature is easy to control with the bottom vent and the top damper.

    • Heats up quickly, so you're grilling sooner
    • Burns long enough for low and slow sessions of several hours
    • Little ash, so less chance of a blocked air inlet
    • Mild, warm smoke that doesn't overpower meat, fish or vegetables
    • 10kg bag of pure hardwood with no additives

    How to light the charcoal

Fill the fire basket to around two-thirds and light only a small part of the coals, for example with natural firelighters from the charcoal, smoking wood and firelighters category. Then let the fire spread on its own and adjust it with your vents. Count on around 1 to 1.5kg for a short grilling session, and fill the basket more generously for a long cook.

    Storing and dosing

Store your bag dry and well sealed. Damp coals ignite slowly and produce unnecessary smoke at the start of your session. Anything left over afterwards can simply be reused: put the kamado out by closing the vents, and the remaining coals will carry on burning next time.

Want an even slower burn for a full-day session? Combine acacia with an extra dense charcoal such as Marabu charcoal. Not sure which type suits the way you fire up your kamado? Check out the full range of charcoal for your BBQ.
