Unlike most other brands in this comparison, Grill Guru isn't the more expensive party here — quite the opposite. Their complete Large is € 899, well below our own Large models. Grill Guru gives 20 years of warranty on the ceramic shell with no course, but with a 3-month registration deadline; on the firebox they give 2 years. We give 3 years on all other parts and set no deadline for registering. Grill Guru sells both direct and through dealers, we sell exclusively direct.

Mainly for the warranty on wear parts and the equipment. We give 3 years on all other parts, Grill Guru 2 years on the firebox, and with us there's no registration deadline to remember. Our grates combine stainless steel and cast iron, where Grill Guru works with a stainless steel Flip Grid. If you're purely after the lowest entry price, Grill Guru is a serious option.

Who gives the best warranty on the ceramic?

Both brands give a long warranty on the ceramic itself with no course or conditions: Grill Guru 20 years on the outer shell, we give 10 years (20 after the free course). Grill Guru does require registration within 3 months of purchase; with us there's no deadline. On the other parts we give 3 years against their 2 years on the firebox.

Why do I need to take a course for 20 years of warranty?

Because most damage to a kamado happens in the first few months, from things nobody tells you. Firing up too fast, extinguishing it the wrong way, opening the lid at the wrong moment. Our free online course teaches you exactly that, and since we started offering it we've seen less damage. The course costs no money, just some time. Complete it and we double the term on the Pro II and Pro III.

Can I transfer the warranty if I sell my kamado?

Not with us: our warranty applies to the first owner only, partly because we can't establish whether a new owner has taken the course. Whether Grill Guru's warranty is transferable we couldn't find a clear answer to — check with Grill Guru directly if that's a deciding factor for you.

Which size should I choose?

For most households the Large is the right choice: enough for six to eight people. Looking for more capacity, Grill Guru's XL (56 cm) is bigger than our own XL (52 cm) and cheaper too. Our Small at € 189 is mainly meant as a tabletop model or for a balcony; Grill Guru's smallest is the Compact (33 cm).

Can I see a Grill Bill in person somewhere?

By appointment in Eindhoven. Because we don't sell through dealers, our kamados aren't in showrooms across the country — Grill Guru sells both direct and through dealers, so that's more often possible there. On the other hand, with us you're in direct contact with the people who make the appliance, even after your purchase.
