What is a round acacia serving board used for?

To present meat off the barbecue, bread or drinks snacks right in the middle of the table. The large round surface holds a whole chicken or a sliced brisket with some vegetables alongside, and because the board is round you can turn it rather than pass it around.

  • Solid acacia wood, finished naturally
  • For meat from the kamado, bread, cheese and dips
  • Hand wash and dry immediately

This round acacia serving board in the large size is made to go right in the middle of the table. The round shape works differently from a rectangular board: there is no head or tail, so everyone sits equally close to it, and you can turn it rather than pass it around. The acacia wood is left natural, with the grain and colour variation you would expect from solid wood.

What a round acacia serving board is good for

Meat off the kamado wants to reach the table warm and all at once. This board comfortably fits a whole chicken, a sliced picanha or a stack of ribs, with room to spare for some grilled vegetables or bread alongside. Outside barbecue season it doubles as a sharing board for cheese, sausage, olives and dips.

  • Large round surface, room for meat plus sides
  • Round shape can be turned rather than passed around
  • Solid acacia wood, dense and strong
  • Finished naturally, without stain or paint
  • Just as suited to drinks as to the barbecue

How to set it up nicely

Place the meat off-centre and fill the rim with some colour contrast: grilled lemon, herbs, a small dish of sauce. Carve heavy meat on a cutting board and then move it to the serving board, so the serving surface stays clean and the knife marks stay where they belong.

Care

Wash by hand in lukewarm soapy water and dry immediately. Not in the dishwasher and not soaking. Rubbing it a few times a year with a neutral, food-safe oil keeps the wood sealed and the colour deep.

Bill's tipPut a small dish of oil or sauce right in the middle of the board and arrange the food around it. That keeps the sauce in place and makes the board look full straight away.

Looking for the same in a smaller size, take a look at the round serving board in medium. For an elongated surface there is the oval serving board large. All boards and the matching cutting gear are at knives and cutting boards.

Frequently asked questions

Can I also cut on it?
For bread or a single slice, sure. It is better to carve heavy meat on a cutting board and then move it to the serving board, so the serving surface stays looking good.
What is the difference with the oval board?
The round board sits well in the middle of the table and can be turned. The oval board is elongated and fits better along a narrow table or next to other dishes.
Can the board go in the dishwasher?
No. Heat and prolonged moisture make wood warp and crack. Wash by hand in lukewarm soapy water and dry the board immediately with a cloth.
How do I keep the acacia wood looking good?
Rub the board a few times a year with a neutral, food-safe oil. Let the oil soak in and wipe off the excess with a clean cloth.
