What are silicone BBQ gloves used for?

You use them to grip hot parts of your kamado or barbecue: the grate, the heat deflector, a pizza stone or a cast iron pan. They're heat-resistant to 350°C and keep their grip even when your hands are greasy. They're explicitly not fireproof, so don't reach into open fire with them.

  • Heat-resistant to 350°C, made of silicone
  • Grip is kept even with grease or marinade on your hands
  • Sold as a pair
  • Not suitable for reaching into open fire

These silicone BBQ gloves give you grip and protection when handling a hot grate, a heat deflector or a cast iron pan from your Grill Bill. The outside is made of silicone, withstands heat up to 350°C and keeps giving you a firm hold, even when it gets covered in grease or marinade. They're sold as a pair, so you grip with both hands.

Why silicone BBQ gloves on a kamado

On a kamado you're constantly dealing with parts that get scorching hot after a few hours of cooking: the grate, the deflector plates and sometimes a cast iron pan or a grill press. With bare hands or a thin oven mitt you can't reach those safely. A fabric oven mitt also slips the moment your hands get greasy from the meat or the marinade, whereas the silicone texture keeps gripping exactly what you're holding.

  • Heat-resistant to 350°C, more than enough for grate and deflector
  • Silicone exterior keeps its grip with grease or marinade on your hands
  • For grate, heat deflector, pizza stone and cast iron pans
  • Sold as a pair, so you can lift with both hands
  • Works on every kamado size and on a regular barbecue

Heat-resistant is not the same as fireproof

That difference comes up a lot with BBQ gear and it's important to know. These gloves are made for gripping hot parts that are already out of the fire or that you can reach without putting your hand into the flames: lifting a grate, moving a deflector, taking a pan off the grate.

Care

Rinse the gloves after a session with warm water and a bit of washing-up liquid and let them dry properly before storing them. Silicone doesn't absorb odours, so grease and smoke smells don't linger in them. Store them dry, away from the hot kamado itself.

If you regularly work with hot tools, these gloves are a logical addition to your other kamado accessories. They're also handy when lifting a rack full of ribs off the grate with a rib rack or pulling meat apart with meat claws.

Frequently asked questions

What are the gloves made of?
They're made of silicone. That material withstands heat and gives you extra grip exactly when your hands get greasy.
Up to what temperature are they heat-resistant?
Up to 350°C. That's plenty for the grate, the deflector plates and a cast iron pan on your kamado.
Are the gloves fireproof too?
No. They're heat-resistant but not fireproof. Use them to grip hot parts and never reach into open fire with them.
How many gloves do I get?
You get a pair delivered, so two gloves.
Do they fit every kamado?
Yes, the gloves aren't tied to a kamado size. You can use them on every Grill Bill and on a regular barbecue.
