If you sharpen and stop there, you're leaving sharpness on the table. Every freshly sharpened edge is left with a paper-thin burr: a folded-over sliver of steel that's invisible to the eye but makes the knife snag and feel blunt again quickly. HORL Leather is made precisely to remove that sliver and polish the edge smooth, just like a barber or butcher pulls their knife across a strop before starting.
What HORL Leather does to the edge
The leather removes almost no material. It folds the turned-over edge back into place while polishing it smooth at the same time. That makes the knife cut more cleanly and hold that sharpness longer: the edge sits straight, with no weak spots that fold over again the moment you start cutting.

How to use it
Work with light pressure and always away from the edge, never into it. A few calm strokes per side are enough. There's no need to keep going until you feel something happen: that's exactly the point of this step.
Maintenance
Keep the leather clean and dry. Don't store it damp and keep it out of the sun or away from a heat source, as that dries the leather out and makes it hard.
